Upcoming Event
Sacramento Book Festival

Sacramento, California — On May 31st, from 10 AM to 4 PM, the California Writer’s Club Sacramento Branch, along with other local writing organizations, will launch the second annual Sacramento Book Festival at the Shepard Garden & Arts Center, next to McKinley Park in East Sacramento.

As part of our focus on literacy, we will be running a book drive for new and gently used children’s books for the Mustard Seed School, a program of Loaves & Fishes - a free private school for children ages 3-15 years-old who are currently homeless. We are also welcoming the Sacramento Literacy Foundation to the event, an organization whose mission is to help all children in our community read at grade-level.

The festival will feature over a hundred local authors, selling books for people of all ages, performing readings, participating on panels, and introducing themselves to Sacramento readers. The roster includes New York Times bestselling thriller author James Rollins, award-winning mystery author Catriona McPherson, and crime fiction writers Claire Booth and James L'Etoile, among many others that Sacramento readers will recognize and enjoy.

There will be activities for children, a food truck on site, and a scavenger hunt with prizes. And best of all, the event is free to the public.

Event sponsors include: A Seat at the Table Books, Avid Reader on Broadway, Capital Books on K, East Village Bookshop, Underground Books, Capitol Crimes, Elk Grove Writers Guild, the Lavender Library, Mustard Seed School, Northern California Publishers and Authors, Paper Lantern Writers, Sacramento Literacy Foundation. More to come soon.
